All the banter and all the pre tournament excuses and STILL Ivan drags himself through to, yet another, final where he will meet Number 2 seed Sam who seemingly didn’t even break a sweat on his way.
On a stunning morning at the Aviation Club all CF Tennis Coaches were in attendance for an equally stunning display of courage, grit and determination as match points came and went and wills where broken. Seeds tumbled as newcomer Nikola steamrollered his way through to the quarters before succumbing to the talented Sam. Surprise package Jaksa also took out two seeded players before a tough three set loss to Number 4 seed Christophe. Ethiopian, Amber, managed to fight past an incredibly resilient COO Jon, saving match points on the way, before almost causing another shock and beating Number 1 seeded Ivan. As we all know though Ivan always finds a way to win and after being 2 points from going out to Rafa he was pushed to another 3rd set against Amber before a subdued semi final victory against the french Christophe. The other semi final saw two of the youngest players in the event Sam and Zohair battle for the prize with Sam just having that extra level to come through to meet Ivan on Saturday at 2pm.
The Bonus Draw saw Zeri, following his surprise loss to Nikola, ease through to the final to play against Nixon who stunned everyone coming from nowhere to make it an all African final again at 2pm this Saturday during the Junior Masters Finals.
Will Ivan (Slovakia) retain his title or will Sam (Nigeria) have the game plan to take out the most consistent competitor this event has ever seen? Either way we are in for 2 incredible finals with 4 truly outstanding athletes! Good Luck to all.
